About our Client 

·         Our client is a preclinical stage biotechnology company developing its own technology platform for the treatment  of neurodegenrative diseases such as Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases.

·       Due to their growth, they are looking for a Chief Scientific Officer to continue to develop the company on a strategic point of view.


Your role 

Job Purpose

·     As CSO, you lead the scientific efforts of the company, managing internal research activities as well as scientific partnership for research discovery. The role of the CSO will be to manage the research programs, and work with the CEO to design and implement a development plan to realise the company’s strategy, within budget and timelines.

·        The CSO is an active member of the senior management team, he/she reports directly to the CEO.


 Your Responsibilities

·        You establish the company’s general strategic research plan and activities in support of agreed strategy and to ensure that the company has access to the resources needed to realize the agreed research plan.

·        You lead the research effort required by the company to identify, discover and explore new potential applications of the technology and take responsibility for the budget allocated to this research effort.

·        You lead the research effort required by the company business plan to enter into the R&D phase for selected application.

·        You supervise the R&D effort and activities.

·        You generate new intellectual property and provide support for the prosecution of IP controlled by the company.

·        You ensure timely publication of results in the format of scientific papers, abstracts, or posters, including attendance to scientific meetings.

·        You organize the scientific communication with partners, including universities, industry, public bodies and patient associations in an attempt to identify possible collaboration.

·        You participate to discussion and presentation to potential investors.

·         You maintain a positive collaborative relationship with other functional heads while representing the technical and scientific organization within the company.

·        You collaborate closely with the CFO to establish budgets.

 

Your profile 

·        You own a PhD degree in science, preferably in Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, etc.

·        You have acquired, at least 10 years’, experience in the biotech/pharma industry in R&D or Preclinical department (mandatory).

·        You have acquired experience in CNS disease therapy.

·        You have a helicopter view and a strategic mindset.

·        You have excellent communication skills and diplomatic abilities. Ability to promote ideas assertively and constructively.

·        You have very good command of English. French is a plus.
